CardCaptor Sakura fits the "Magical Girl" Shoujo genre to a T. We've got talking supernatural pets, magical transformations, a great quest, cool rivals, and a "villain of the week" for each show. What more could you want?

Hinomoto Sakura is a helpful, energetic, and (sometimes) coordinated 4th grade student. She is a member of the cheerleading club, fights with her older brother, Touga, and hangs around with her too-sweet best friend Tomoyo-chan. Oh, yeah. She also has a HUGE crush on her brother's best friend, Yu-ki-to-sAAAAAAn (that's Yukito for the Sakura impared).

One day, while waiting for her brother and father to come home, Sakura hears a mysterious sound from her basement. She finds a strangely glowing book, opens it, takes out a card and reads the name WINDY (in english) aloud. All of a sudden, a huge gust of - you guessed it - wind blows all of the cards away.

Once all of the cards (but WINDY) have gone, Sakura discovers the source of the noise - it was the snoring of a small stuffed-animal looking thing calling itself Cereberus. The promptly re-named Kero-Chan explains that the cards (The Clow Cards) are magical, and that terrible things will happen if they are let loose into the world. He then commands that Sakura become a Card Captor, and help capture the escaped cards.

CardCaptor Sakura is currently licensed by Nelvana for distribution in North America. There is a dubbed version planned for release, but I have no "offcial" word on any subbed release yet.
